Joe went 5-for-7 in Games 2 and 3, a feat unmatched by Cobb, Hornsby, Dimaggio, Mantle, Mays, Musial and many other greats. He took the bribe to show Comiskey and had the door slammed in his face. Comiskey testified Joe did come to his office, waited an hour and Commy did not see him. Letters were presented in evidence indicating Joe offered a month after the Series to tell what he knew. Comiskey brushed him off. I believe Joe’s grand jury testimony fits the profile of a false confession.
